No PE?? What??

When I think of the things I used to do as a kid, I'm amazed that I survived! Well, not really...but if you listen to the safety patrol nowadays. you'd think that something as quintessential to childhood as climbing a tree will end in broken bones for sure. Maybe death or dismemberment. Yes, let's invest in the bubble wrap business, because we'll get rich - no doubt about it.

I agree kids should be outside as much as possible.

I agree 100%. I think it is teaching out kids to find a way to get out of things... Oh Mom, I can't the air is too bad. For that matter, you and I both know OC and LA air is not so perfect... most of the time, not just with fires.

Great post! I love that you speak your mind!

It a great statement about the priorities of our government run schools.

I agree whole 100% I brought this up a while back about the coddeling effect. It affect's me too pain in the @#$. These kids now don't want to work they want to be handed everything just like they always have been. I just had a conversation with someone the other week about how you never see anyone riding a bike any more with out a helmet on. 15 years ago I'm not even sure they were made. I'm not saying that we should be unsafe when we play but if we bubble wrap everything in life people have no idea what to do when then hit a bump in the road...much less the grand canyon like we are going to go through now...I could go one and one this really erks me

Boys ESPECIALLY need PE so they can burn off all that energy and FOCUS mentally.

I agree with you!! Michael www.rothwellnesscenter.com
You are so right on target with this one. As a society we have become overprotective of our children and too involved in the micromanagement of their lives. We need to let kids be kids.

It is stupid...like forcing children to ride in car seats but allowing them to be in school buses without seat belts. Go figure.

I had this conversation recently... the kids nowadays are not the rough and tumble kids that we were when we were younger... Something needs to be done...

agreed!
The games we had then are the games still being kept alive in P.E...
do kids still skip rope? play tag? dodgeball? they are the best of childhood times
Maybe schools are more protective or cautious now because America is known for lawsuits. Anyone can sue anyone for any good measure of inconvenience.

Another great point my child!

Why don't they just have PE indoors? don't they have a gym? Crazy that they cancel it. I can remember pushing all the desks to the side and having PE in the classroom sometimes.

Yes I think there is too much talk about safety, they talk with children, parents, teachers. Don't do this, don't do that, this is the law etc. When I was a child all the safety was mum's "be careful". Nowadays children are so lazy. What protection do they need?

April, the comment that BOYS need PE to focus mentally is SEXIST. Girls need PE so that they don't get fat and lazy become "undatable". In short, both sexes need daily PE for thier own well being.
[this is good]
Thanks for your comment. My stating that boys need PE as Kinesthetic learners is straight from the researchers. Of course girls need exercise as well, but that was not my point. indeed, I have a lot curves and am QUITE datable! lol! However, boys and girls ARE different. Vive la difference, n'est pas? So, it is not sexist to so state.

Happy dating!
